The wind jinx strikes again, so I went to hire a surf board. In the shop they told me it'd been blowing a whole month non-stop till the day before...

Rented a 10ft longboard just to re-familiarise myself with what I learned in Oz in December.

The surf here was much more powerful & less forgiving than Bondi... On my first sortie I paddled out OK, but then got caught in my first ever rinse cycle. On the second, I caught a wave and..woo-hoooo!!!! It was a bit like Alton Towers... After that, I couldn't even get out through the waves, but kept trying & practicing paddling techniques, still had really good fun. Another box in life ticked, Surfin' USA... :-)
